Trouw Celebrates New Pet Food Facility

HIGHLAND – Trouw Nutrition celebrated the grand opening of its new Blending Innovation Center (BIC) last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception at Schlafly Highland Square.

The BIC will focus on new specialized mixing technology for the pet food industry, marking the start of the company’s growth plan.

The addition increased Trouw’s existing 8,100 square foot pilot plant to 32,052 square feet. Company officials said the growth will enable additional business opportunities and create new jobs within the community.

“It’s so nice to reach this important milestone for our company and our industry,” said Terri Boeser, Managing Director. “Completing this project despite COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions is a true testament to the dedication of our employees.”

The grand opening took place after nearly ten months of construction and development, with partners including The Korte Company, the City of Highland, the Nutreco Industrial Project Team and the Trouw Nutrition Innovation Team.

“I am excited about the possibilities the new Blending Innovation Center will bring to support our growth ambitions in the global pet industry,” said Saskia Korink, CEO of Trouw Nutrition. “The new center will be instrumental in providing our customers with innovative solutions to advance pet nutrition globally.”

Highland Mayor Kevin B. Hemann joined Korink, Brent Korte, CEO of The Korte Company, and members of the Town of Highland and Highland Chamber of Commerce inside the new facility.

The BIC is located at 80 Executive Drive in Highland. Trouw Nutrition is the pet and livestock business of Nutreco and a global leader in food, farm and health. Based in the Netherlands, the company is present in 105 countries and 22 manufacturing plants. For more information, visit
