Several Phoenix-area shelters are waiving or reducing vacation pet adoption fees


PHOENIX — Several animal shelters in the Phoenix metro area are offering free or discounted adoptions for a limited time as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters Holiday Hope event.

Both Arizona Humane Society locations — 1521 W. Dobbins Road in Phoenix and PetSmart at 4380 N. Miller Road in Scottsdale — are waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats Monday through Dec. 20.

AHS gives priority to people who schedule appointments in advance, but accepts walk-in visits if time permits.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control offers the same offer in its two shelters, by eliminating the adoption fees from Monday to December 20.

You can discover the creatures of the county in line or in person at 2500 S. 27th Ave. in Phoenix or at 2630 W. Rio Salado Parkway in Mesa.

the Animal Welfare League of Arizona will have free adoptions Tuesday through Dec. 12 for pets 1 year and older at its main shelter, 25 N. 40th St. in Phoenix.

Heidi’s village (600 N. 40th St., Phoenix) uses sponsorship from the Bissell Pet Foundation to lower adoption fees to $25 Monday through Dec. 20.

More than 200 shelters in 40 states participate in the Empty Holiday Hope Shelters an event.
