Animal shelters across the country are facing overcrowding, forcing them to make tough decisions.
Earlier this year, Woods Humane Society took a chance on a time-starved pet at another shelter. Now After a long road to recovery, Jonah is now our pet of the week.
Robin Coleman of Woods Humane Society sat down with Team KSBY and Jonah to see what makes him so special!
Coleman said: “He’s our friend Jonah. We absolutely adore Jonah. He’s one of the best dogs we’ve ever met here at the Woods Humane Society since April. He came to see us while he was out of time at another shelter where they didn’t have the resources for him.
The shelter, outside of San Luis Obispo County, simply ran out of room and risked euthanasia for Jonah. At the very last minute, the Woods Humane Society stepped in to help!
The dog they picked up was just a shell of the current version of Jonas. Coleman continued: “He was super skinny. He has scars all over his face. He had hip and eye surgery thanks to Woods and this community. But we treated him and healed him. He is ready for his forever home.”
Ever since Jonah arrived at the Woods Humane Society, he was skin and bones. Since then he has gained 30 pounds and is now at a healthy weight.
Coleman continued “we’re looking for a home, maybe a family with kids who will take him to the beach. He loves to play. He loves getting in the water. He loves everyone. He’s a very special dog. .”
He is good with people and is a great cuddler. Coleman explained “You will be lucky to have Jonah in your life like we have been. If you are interested in meeting Jonah, come to the Woods Humane Society. Come in and meet him and fall in love like we have. Have done.”
Jonah will be available for adoption at noon on Friday, July 29. Visit the Woods Humane Society website for more information.
