Cuero’s soccer players spend their mornings walking the shelter dogs

CUERO, Texas – Pet Adoptions of Cuero received help from the Cuero Gobblers football team to walk the dogs today.

The Cuero Gobblers football team also donated over 1,000 pounds of pet food for the shelter.

Cuero’s head coach Jack Alvarez challenged his team to participate in community service like this. He says it teaches the important value of helping others.

“If we can teach these guys to do something for a helpless animal, hopefully they will someday learn to do something for a human,” Alvarez says.

Linda Anzaldua, President of Pet Adoptions of Cuero, was delighted to see all the football players come and lend a hand.

“We’re so excited that the Cuero Gobblers, who are the district champions, usually go out every Thursday to walk our dogs. We need these soccer players to walk the dogs because we have tons of big dogs that need exercise so today they decided to do a food drive and we are so thankful! Said Anzaldua.

Several players now have a favorite dog that they enjoy walking.

They plan to do this every Thursday until their favorite dog has a forever home.
