Exotic pet store opens in Forsyth County

While Erickson loved the process of breeding snakes, he had an unrealized dream: to open a reptile store.

Last year, Erickson and his stepfather began to “pitch the idea of opening a store” but were unable to “put [their] finger on the right place.

“Opening a store is a big leap,” Erickson said. “It took a lot of faith and… understanding of what we were getting into. “

Erickson said that with all the places he and his family looked, nothing looked right. Eventually he was contacted by a friend in California, Michael Roscoe, who told him he “would be behind. [them] and their vision ”and helped motivate Erickson to keep researching. He quickly found the perfect spot near Canton Road.

“I’m glad we waited for this place,” Erickson said. “It’s the perfect place for us.

Erickson’s stepfather Tom Wintemute agreed the store was perfect, saying location was everything.

“If you look at a map, there are only a few other reptile stores within a 50 mile radius,” Wintemute said. “We wanted to be close to the people who needed us.

“People will come in looking for feeders or crickets or something and say, ‘Dude, I’m so glad I didn’t have to drive 45 minutes,’ he said. to find something within our budget and in the right place, but we did it and we’re proud of it.
