Carmel woman creates pet calendar for a good cause

CARMEL, Maine (WABI) – Everyone thinks their pets are calendar-worthy.

By supporting a local woman’s pet calendar, you can make a difference in the Carmel community.

Una Purvis – like so many others – adopted a dog during the pandemic.

After taking countless photos, she decided to see if there was a way to turn her hobby into a way to help others.

She sold 50 calendars last month for $ 20 apiece.

The money raised from these sales helped her donate two $ 400 gift certificates to local families in need.

The dogs on the calendar are owned by Purvis’ friends and family, but she plans to include more dogs next year.

“The community really embraced the calendars and liked it a lot and I have had a lot of people who have come to me and contacted me over the last couple of weeks now who want to have their dogs next year so the plan is to move forward and make one for next year and hopefully that will become just an annual thing, ”Purvis said.

You can purchase the calendars at the Village Market, Devon Kitchen, and the Carmel Town Office.

Proceeds until the end of this year will go to heating oil for community members in need.
