The service is at 10:30 am on Sunday morning
Saint Francis of Assisi is known as the patron saint of animals. He called all creatures his “brothers and sisters” and was known to preach regularly to birds.
October 4th is commonly known as St. Francis Day, so we’re a little late. However, this Sunday, October 24, at Bowen Island United Church, we will be holding an animal blessing service. You are invited to bring your beloved pets to church where they will receive a blessing – and a treat. All creatures are welcome, but dogs must be kept on a leash, cats in owners’ arms or in a transport cage and any other creature can join us in a cage or terrarium or whatever makes them feel the less stress.
There is one thing the people of Bowen Island certainly have in common: we love our animals. And we love them even after they leave this life. So if you have a photo of a beloved pet that has gone to the next world to hunt squirrels and balls forever, or to snuggle up in the everlasting sun, please join us and bring a photo of your pet and we will bless the memory of your beloved companion.
Our service is at 10:30 am on Sunday morning. We are at 1122 Miller Road. We are masked and distanced and we ask you to follow the same protocols. Everyone is welcome: two-legged, four-legged, winged and more.
